Dr. Gregg Laiben serves as medical director in the Care Management Division of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC). In his role at BlueKC, he is responsible for the continued development of the company’s integrated health management strategies. These initiatives include demonstrating value to clients for a variety of wellness and disease management programs. The A Healthier You™ wellness program for members currently serves more than 200 large employers in the area, representing more than 130,000 individual members across the country.

Prior to taking his position at Blue KC, Dr. Laiben was medical director for Primaris, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for the state of Missouri, where he was the clinical lead for all quality improvement projects in health care settings and served as liaison to professional societies and clinical media.

A 1980 graduate of the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine, he trained in internal medicine at Truman Medical Center. Dr. Laiben maintained an active clinical practice in internal medicine in the Kansas City area for 12 years before transitioning to administrative medicine in 1993. He has also served as medical director for Missouri’s Medicaid Agency and chaired the 2003 Missouri Governor’s Commission on Patient Safety that led to the creation of the Missouri Center for Patient Safety.
